A warning to artists

by | on Jul6 2012

In addition to looking to help artists get their name out in the world we at Holosuite like to help our artists friends be on the look out for those who would take advantage of them. In this case we’re gonna talk about Josh Hoopes. Mr. Hoopes is as this article on BleedingCool calls him the most infamous con man in comics. The man has made quite a living off of stealing work from writers and artists alike, impersonating staff from companies like TokyoPop.

The man is a thorn in the side of the Comic Book industry and the sort of individual that preys on young and amateur artists like the ones we support in our Under-Appreciated Artist of the Month articles. This man is not to be trusted, simply look at the massive amount of articles BleedingCool has about him. If someone approaches you looking for work, and they’ve got the art listed in the articles, or art like it, of varying styles, be weary, do some research, get some hard numbers on them. There are people out there who take advantage of the people we’re trying to help, and we need to look out for them.

For those of you not familiar with the Beyond The Veil crew, you tell us we can’t do something or we’re not good enough to achieve something, we’re going to find a way to do it to prove you Read more →
